3 NL alumni named to 2021 Hermann Trophy men's watch list

As the men’s college soccer season gets underway, three USYS National League alumni are earning national recognition. The Missouri Athletic Club included three former National League players on the 2021 Hermann Trophy men’s watch list.

The Hermann Trophy, presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club, is the nation’s highest individual honor recognizing the nation’s National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.

The National League alumni* on the 2021 watch list include:

Pierre Reedy, Penn State
Reedy played in the National League in the 2013-14 season with Lehigh Valley United 97 (PA-E). He led the team with four goals, which placed him among the top 10 scorers in his age group.

Chris Donovan, Drexel
Donovan played in the National League in the 2016-17 season with FC Montco Die Mannschaft (PA-E). The midfielder scored one goal during the season.

Billy Hency, Loyola - Chicago
Hency played in the National League in the 2016-17 season and helped Sporting STL - McMahon Ford (MO) to a third-place finish. He scored two goals, including a game-winner.

*Includes only players who competed in the national tier of the National League, now known as National League P.R.O.

National League alumni have gone on to excel at the collegiate, professional and international levels, with former players competing in all levels of college soccer, as well as Major League Soccer, the National Women’s Soccer League, English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, the Olympics and the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
