
FRISCO, Texas (June 8, 2022) — The USYS Midwest Conference completed a weekend of critical matchups as teams made one final push to earn their division’s crown.
With many of the conferences having already wrapped up their Spring 2022 seasons, the divisions in the Midwest Conference enjoyed the spotlight.
A brief look at some key results:
Chicago Magic 2006 MCL (IL) completed its run through the 16U Boys Premier II Black Division with a 3-2 win against Chicago City 2006 Boys Pre-Academy (IL), finishing with six wins and one draw. In its undefeated season, Chicago Magic scored 18 goals while giving up just three – good for a plus-15 goal differential.
Bato Radoncic, Club Director of Chicago Magic 2006 MCL (IL), praised the Midwest Conference for its level of competition and attributed the team’s success to the dedication of all involved.
“Competition in the Midwest Conference is really high,” Radoncic said. “We have been a part of the conference for many years and our players and families have enjoyed it very much. Our team’s success came through hard work and dedication from all the players and staff.”
Radoncic also touched on what he’s looking forward to as Chicago Magic earned promotion after its tremendous season.
“Winning the division means we will be playing in Premier I next season and competing against the top players in the Midwest region,” Radoncic said. “As a club, we were really proud of our group from the beginning all the way until the end of the season.”
Elsewhere in the Midwest Conference, MSC Academy 05 (IL) also picked up a division-clinching win over the weekend in the 17U Boys Premier I Division. In the highly-contested match, MSC Academy held on for a 2-1 victory over 2005 Aguilas MWC (IL) that capped off an undefeated season with five wins and two draws.
