National League welcomes Ray Johnson as League Manager in the Northwest

FRISCO, Texas (Jan. 30, 2023) — The US Youth Soccer National League is pleased to announce the addition of Ray Johnson as a League Manager. Johnson will lead the management of Elite 64 Northwest, as well as the National League’s Northwest Conference.

With extensive experience as both a coach and administrator in the area, Johnson brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role.

“We are very excited to have Ray as a part of our National League team, and we know his addition will help move the game forward in the Northwest,” USYS National League Commissioner Simon Collins said. “His vast background within youth soccer in the region — combined with his passion for increasing and improving the opportunities of young soccer players throughout the Northwest — will help us create an even greater experience for all teams and clubs from that part of the country.”

Johnson enters his role with the National League after most recently serving as the Director of Coaching with Valor Soccer. He holds a USSF ‘A’ License and USSF DOC License.

Johnson has coached at various clubs in the Northwest and served as a member of the US Youth Soccer ODP coaching staff for Washington Youth Soccer. He also acted as the Elite Player Development Director for Washington Youth Soccer (ODP) and State Cup Director.

“I am very excited to get started with US Youth Soccer in a role to help build the Northwest Conference,” Johnson said. “I have been part of the Northwest soccer scene for the last 20 years and look forward to bringing knowledge and sustainability to an exciting soccer region.”

Elite 64 Northwest is one of eight geographical areas that are a part of Elite 64 — the top club-based league within the USYS National League that debuted in the 2022-23 season.

The Northwest Conference is one of 13 Conferences in the USYS National League that provide pathways into both National League P.R.O. and the USYS Regional Championships — ultimately giving teams a chance to advance to the annual USYS National Championships.

Johnson currently resides in Covington, Wash., with his wife, Jennie. They have three children and three grandchildren.
