FRISCO, Texas (June 8, 2022) — The US Youth Soccer National League and Cal North are aligned and working together to launch a new team-centric pathway for northern California teams to compete in the USYS Pacific Conference, one of 13 conferences within the National League.

The newly-defined pathway gives Cal North teams a clear league pathway into National League P.R.O. and the USYS Far West Regional Championships via the Pacific Conference — helping to connect the local competition to USYS’s top national platforms.

The base of the Cal North league pathway features USYS League America, with the Cal North Competitive Soccer League serving as the introductory level for competitive play in the State Association.

The top tier of league competition in Cal North is the Pacific Conference Premier I North Division. As the top tier in the Pacific Conference, the Premier I North Division gives teams the opportunity to qualify for National League P.R.O. and advance to the USYS Far West Regionals.

“We’re happy to be working with Cal North to ensure there is a competitive pathway for teams to advance into the Pacific Conference and have opportunities to earn their place into National League P.R.O. and the USYS Far West Regional Championships,” said Simon Collins, USYS National League Commissioner. “The pathway in Cal North helps to provide a proper level of competition for all players, from the earliest ages up through college, to promote an enjoyable soccer experience for all involved.”

“We’re looking forward to continuing to increase the connectivity between Cal North and the USYS Pacific Conference,” said Kevin Crow, Director of Competition and Player Development for Cal North. “Creating a clear pathway for Cal North teams into the National League competitions will provide more players with an opportunity to experience top regional and national platforms.”

The Pacific Conference includes play for boys and girls teams in Cal North within the 13U through 19U age groups. As one of the 13 National League Conferences, the Pacific Conference provides the only path for automatic qualification into National League P.R.O., as well as opportunities for direct advancement into the USYS Far West Regional Championships.

A town hall meeting will take place Sunday, June 12 at 7 p.m. PT and can be accessed here.
