LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Feb. 28, 2023) — The Desert Conference standings are nearly finalized after more than 60 teams competed Feb. 24-26 in Las Vegas, Nev. The weekend of play featured boys and girls teams in the 12U and 15U through 19U age groups.
The games in Las Vegas marked the final matches of the Desert Conference season for many of the competing teams. For some teams in the 15U-19U age groups, it also meant the opportunity to finish at the top of the Premier I Division standings and earn direct advancement to the 2023 USYS Far West Regional Championships, while teams in the 15U-18U age groups had the chance to secure automatic qualification for the 2023-24 season of National League P.R.O.
The Desert Conference is one of 13 conferences in the USYS National League, all of which offer advancement opportunities to National League P.R.O. and their respective USYS Regional Championship.
A LOOK BACK AT GIRLS RESULTS…
15U Girls
Behind two wins in Las Vegas, L30 FC Shock – G08 JM clinched first place in the 15U Girls age group. L30 won a key match against second-place Utah Storm 2008 Yeates that gave it the head-to-head advantage in the standings.
16U Girls
The 16U Girls age group came down to the last day of the season, as two unbeaten sides met in Las Vegas. Utah Surf 07 BH earned a 2-1 win against Vegas United 07 Girls Elite to earn the decisive points that helped the Utah finish in first place.
17U Girls
Utah Celtic FC G06 MB completed a perfect 7-0-0 season with four wins in Las Vegas. After a 5-1 win to open its weekend, Utah won three close games to pull away for the 17U Girls group title.
18/19U Girls
An undefeated season helped FC Leonas finish on top of the 18/19U Girls age group, as it finished the season with three wins during its time in Las Vegas.
A LOOK BACK AT BOYS RESULTS…
15U Boys
Players 08 Elite Boys picked up 7 of 9 possible points while playing locally in Las Vegas. Its draw on Sunday against NMSA 08 Boys gave it the point it needed to narrowly edge Utah Celtic FC 08 Boys for first place.
16U Boys
La Roca – J Milla completed an unbeaten season, as it secured three wins and a draw in Las Vegas. In its 7-0-1 campaign, the Utah side had six games decided by two goals or less.
17U Boys
Behind an attack that averaged more than three goals per game in Las Vegas, Rush Pikes Peak 06B Academy secured four wins over the weekend to complete a first-place campaign in the 17U Boys age group.
18U Boys
Every result mattered for Impact United BA 05, as it picked up all 9 possible points in Las Vegas to finish its season 6-0-1. Impact topped the 18U Boys group, with Players 05 Elite Boys just one point back. Impact’s 2-1 win against Players in November proved to be the deciding factor.
19U Boys
The 19U Boys age group completed play in the fall, as LVSA 04 Boys Red finished in first place with a 3-0-0 record.
