Q: What is the difference between National League Frontier and National League FDL?
At the National League, we are unique in offering both a team based pathway and a club based pathway. National League Frontier is our team based pathway, where a singular team can qualify/apply for an age group division. National League FDL is our club based pathway, where an entire club would apply for the league, and if accepted, fill a spot in every age group the league offers.
Both National League Frontier and National League FDL have the same qualification pathways where the top teams from each age group division have the opportunity to qualify for a same seasonal year postseason event (I.e. Southern Regionals) and a next seasonal year postseason event (i.e. National League Quarterfinals.
The main difference between National League Frontier and National League FDL is the schedule. In National League Frontier, a team will play predominately in the fall season at neutral site events hosted and schedule by the National League. in National League FDL, a team will play both fall and spring, and the schedule will be dictated predominately by the team’s club.
If your club has interest in applying for National League FDL, please contact the League Manager, Matt Dellaria, directly at mdellaria@usyouthsoccer.org.
Q: When is the application deadline for the upcoming season and how do I access the application link?
In completing any registration into the Frontier Conference teams are required to submit accurate information to the questions provided. Misrepresentation may result in the team being disqualified from conference participation. All registrations for the Frontier Conference must be submitted through GotSport.

Q: How do I locate team contact information for teams in my division?
A: Click here to view a short walkthrough on locating team contact information on the GotSport public pages.
Q: How do I add myself as the contact person for my team and get emails from the Conference?
A: The coaches and managers on a team’s Conference roster is who displays as the contact person for a team and who will receive emails from the Conference. For steps on how to add a coach or manager to a Conference roster, please click here to view a short walkthrough.
Q: How many players can be on our team?
A: Teams may utilize thirty players during the course of a season in accordance with League Rules and Policies. A maximum of 18 players can be active per match day. Club Pass players may only come from within a team’s club, provided that the player is a US Youth Soccer member. All rosters shall be submitted to the league through the GotSport platform.
Q: Can I remove players from my roster?
A: Once a player is on a conference roster, such player is frozen on such a team’s pool of thirty players for the remainder of the Conference season. Players may only be removed, prior to the team’s first game of the season, by the approval of the League Manager.
Q: What is the time frame to make adjustments to my roster?
A: Any roster modification for weekend games must be made before 12 PM CT on the Friday before the weekend games. There are no exceptions to this. Any modifications sent after this deadline will not be accepted.
Q: Can a player play for multiple teams on the same day?
A: Club pass players cannot play for two teams on the same day, see rules below:
17.04 Player Limitations
A player may play for only one Conference team during any single day. Once a player is on the roster of a team in the Conference in a gender age group and such team has played one match in Conference competition, such player may not appear on another team’s roster in such gender age group during the remainder of the Conference season. In situations where a club may have multiple teams participating in the Conference, a player or players may be listed on multiple teams rosters in different age groups, but at no time may a player play for more than one team on the same day, and not play on more than one team in the same gender age group. Under no circumstances may a player be listed on multiple team rosters if such teams are from different clubs.
During the conference season, a goalkeeper may be listed on up to two Conference team match day team lineups per day from the same club, with the written consent by the conference league manager. A goalkeeper may not play on more than one team in the same gender age group, and is subject to the same standards as club pass players.

Q: How do we receive National League Patches and where are they supposed to be placed on our uniforms?
A: All patches are either handed out to teams at events or sent to the club for distribution to the teams as requested by the club. The placement of patches on uniforms can be found on pages 15 and 16 of the National League – Brand Guidelines document found in the Team Information drop down on the USYS website.
About the National League Frontier
The US Youth Soccer Frontier Conference consists of teams primarily from Arkansas, Oklahoma, North Texas and South Texas.
The Frontier Conference operates league play for boys and girls teams in the 13U, 14U, 15U, 16U, 17U and 19U age groups.
At the National League, we are unique in offering both a team based pathway and a club based pathway. Frontier Conference
– Boys and girls teams in the 14U-19U age groups play their games primarily in the fall.
– Boys and girls teams in the 13U and 14U age groups play their games primarily in the spring.
Frontier Development League
– Girls tams in the FDL play their games year round.
Northern Frontier Conference Qualifier
– Boys and girls teams in the North Frontier Conference Qualifier divisions play their games primarily in the fall.
- The highest level of play for each age group takes place within a Premier I Division for team-based competition and the Frontier Development League for team-based competition (girls only).
- There are also localized Conference Qualifier Divisions, such as the Northern Frontier, that offer teams with promotion opportunities into the Premier I Divisions.
The Frontier Conference is one of 13 Conferences within the National League that offer team-based competition, meaning each team earns its place into the appropriate level of play through its play on the field. The 13 Conferences share national connectivity via the Conference Playoffs, which provide a platform for the top 10 percent of teams from the 3,500+ teams playing in the conferences to come together and compete for an opportunity to continue on the pathway toward the US Youth Soccer National Championships.
The conferences provide teams with two pathways that help teams work their way toward advancing to the USYS National Championships.
- National League Pathway – Conference teams can qualify for the National League Quarterfinals and have an opportunity to ultimately advance to the National Championships. In order to do so, they must:
- Qualify for the Conference Quarterfinals by finishing as one of the top teams in the highest level of its conference in the previous seasonal year.
- Compete at the Conference Quarterfinals and earn advancement to National League Semifinal
- Compete at National League Semifinal and finish in a qualifying position for the USYS National Championships
- Regional Championships Pathway – Conference teams can qualify for their respective Regional Championship to have an opportunity to ultimately advance to the National Championships. In order to do so, they must:
- Finish as one of the top teams in the highest level of its conference to earn a spot in the Regional Championships at the end of that same seasonal year.
- Win the Regional Championship to advance to the USYS National Championships.
Any team looking to participate in the Frontier Conference must understand the level of commitment it takes to participate in a League that stretches across three (3) different state associations. All teams understand that this is a multi-state league and that teams may travel hundreds of miles to participate in conference games. Teams understand that they may not play any true “home” games. A limited number of teams are accepted into the Frontier Conference, so it is important that each team makes the commitment to travel BEFORE applying to the conference.
