As teams across the country reach the heart of the Spring 2023 season, many of the races for the top of the Elite 64 group standings are intensifying. With Elite 64 sides contending for spots in the top pools of the Elite 64 National Finals, there are important points on the line from coast to coast.
Take a look at which girls clubs and teams have positioned themselves well through the fall and winter months of the 2022-23 Elite 64 season:
Northeast | Southeast | South | Great Lakes | Midwest | Desert | Pacific | Northwest | National Events
NORTHEAST
The older ages have yet to play a majority of their schedules, but Coppermine SC has had a strong start across several age groups. It’s currently in the Top 2 in the 14U, 16U and 17U age groups and is just one point back of second place in the 13U age group.
Boston Bolts and Match Fit Academy are currently first and second, respectively, in the 13U age group, which has seen teams play just over half of their games. Bayside FC holds a narrow lead over Coppermine in the 14U age group, while Match Fit and Princeton SA just outside the Top 2. Princeton SA is also off to a solid start in the 19U age group.
SOUTHEAST
Team Boca is having success across all age groups in the Southeast, as its teams are currently on top of the standings in the 13U, 14U, 15U, 17U and 19U age groups. The Florida side has lost just three times in 23 games as a club.
In the 16U age group, Team Boca is currently in second place behind Atlanta Fire United. The two met in September, when Atlanta secured a 4-2 win that gave it the advantage in the standings.
United Futbol Academy is just behind the first-place Team Boca teams, as its squads are in second place in the 13U, 14U, 15U, 17U and 19U age groups.
SOUTH
The youngest age groups in the South each have Dallas Cosmos sitting on top of the standings. Dallas Cosmos 10G has yet to concede a goal through a 3-0-0 start, while the 14U side has also displayed a stout defense during its six games. The 15U team began its season with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Rush Select South before three straight wins helped it climb the standings.
Rush Select South has several teams near the top of the standings, with its sides in the 16U and 19U age groups currently in first place, while its 13U team sits in second place. FC Westlake also has four teams in second place across the various age groups.
With several games to play as a club, Lobos Rush has a few unbeaten teams in position to make moves up the table before the standings are finalized.
GREAT LAKES
Several 13U and 14U teams are past the halfway point of their Great Lakes campaigns, while most of the older age groups are nearing their midway point in March.
A common theme across all of the age groups is GTFC Impact at the top of the standings. Impact is currently in first place in five age groups — 14U through 19U — and in third place in the 13U age group. The 14U side leads the pack, as it is 10-0-0 thanks to an attack that’s averaging just over three goals per game.
Indiana Fire occupies the top spot in the 13U age group, as its 2010 side has won each of its first eight game while conceding just twice. As a club, four of the Fire’s six teams are in the top half of their respective standings.
Meanwhile, Pittsburgh Hotspurs have two undefeated teams — in the 16U and 19U age groups — that are currently in second place but on pace to contend with GTFC for first place. Western New York Flash, Total Futbol Academy and Kings Hammer each have one team apiece that’s currently in second place.
MIDWEST
The Midwest had a fall-heavy schedule in the older age groups, which has left the standings close to final. Chicago Inter has enjoyed the most success, as it has three teams in first place — topping the standings in the 14U, 17U and 19U age groups. The 14U and 17U teams have yet to drop any points in league play.
Galaxy SC and Libertyville FC 1974 are each equally represented in the Top 2, as they have three teams apiece in those positions. Galaxy is led by its 2008 side, which has gone 12-0-0 in the 15U age group while conceding just one goal. Libertyville FC 1974 07G is in first place in the 16U age group thanks to several tight victories in a very close group.
North Shore United 10G are in first place in the 13U age group after a dominant 8-0-0 start to its season, while JB Marine and Madison 56ers each have one team in Top 2 positions.
DESERT
Colorado Rapids Youth SC can be found near the top of most standings for the Desert group, including in first place in the 14U, 16U and 17U age groups. The Rapids also have second-place squads in the 15U and 19U age groups — meaning five of the club’s teams are in position to compete in the top pool at the Elite 64 National Finals.
Arsenal Colorado isn’t too far behind, as its teams are evenly dispersed among the Top 3 spots across all the Desert standings. Arsenal has first-place teams in the 15U and 19U age groups, to go along with two teams in second place and another pair in third place.
The remaining first-place side comes from Utah Soccer Alliance, which has seen its 2010 team start 6-0-0 in the 13U Girls age group. Meanwhile, Real Colorado 10G is in second place in that age group and is one of two teams from the club — along with the 2006 team — that are currently in the Top 2 of their respective standings.
PACIFIC
With about half of the games played in the Pacific, there is plenty of parity among the clubs. The top spot in the six age groups is currently occupied by a team from five different clubs, as CDA Slammers is the lone club to have two teams in first place. Slammers’ 2008 and 2006 sides are currently in first in the 15U and 17U age groups, respectively, while the club has another three teams in the top half of their standings.
East County Surf, Legends FC and Los Angeles SC each have one first-place team and one second-place team in the current standings. East County SC 10G is on top in the 13U age group, Legends FC 07G is in first place in the 16U age group, and Los Angeles SC 04/05G is leading the 19U age group. The remaining first-place team comes from Las Vegas Surf, whose 2009 side has been dominant in league play and at showcases during the fall and winter months.
Meanwhile, despite having no teams occupying first place, South Valley Surf has put in solid performances as a club — with three teams in second place and three teams in third place.
NORTHWEST
The Northwest group will be kicking off its first games this spring.
NATIONAL EVENTS
Elite 64 teams have had the opportunity to play matches outside of their regular season groups while competing at national events during the fall and winter. Take a look at the clubs that have secured the most points per game from all games played across the events in Round Rock, Orlando, Mesa and Tampa. The list below features clubs that have combined for at least nine games played during national events.
